Position Overview

IDOC is looking to hire an Office Associate to serve as secretary in the Operations Unit. In addition, this position will keyboard a variety of complex documents, compile and assemble data for statistical reports, and maintain complex filing systems for security staff. If you are detail oriented and can multitask, this position is for you. We strongly encourage all qualified individuals to apply.

Essential Functions

• Serves as secretary to the Shift Supervisor.
• Keyboards complex charts, documents, forms, memoranda, and letters.
• Organizes and maintains complex filing systems for correspondence and security personnel.
• Serves as clerical support to the Administrative Major / Unit Manager.
• As a receptionist, answers the phone.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonable within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

• Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school and two (2) years of office experience.
• Requires ability to keyboard accurately 45 words per minute.

Conditions of Employment

• Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
• Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited.
• Required to utilize digital technology, tools, platforms, and processes in managing and supporting various digital enhancements for greater efficiency, productivity, and digital transformation efforts within the department.
