Overview Lecturer position in the Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering (MAE) at North Carolina State University (Raleigh, NC). This is a part-time, contract position contingent on departmental needs. The anticipated hiring range is listed for the course(s) taught. Essential Job Duties The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) invites applications for a Lecturer position. The primary responsibility is to deliver high-quality undergraduate and/or graduate instruction for the department, supporting teaching needs during the fall, spring, and/or summer semesters. Instructional areas may include core topics in mechanical and aerospace engineering, as well as emerging fields aligned with the department’s strategic goals. Applicants are encouraged to specify courses within the MAE curriculum they are qualified to teach or propose specialized topics aligned with their expertise. Deliver engaging and effective course content for undergraduate and graduate students in accordance with the department’s educational objectives. Develop and prepare course materials, assignments, and assessments, fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Provide mentorship, academic support, and career guidance to students. Collaborate with faculty and staff to enhance and modernize course offerings, ensuring alignment with industry trends and research advancements. Incorporate innovative teaching methods and technologies to support learning styles and create an effective classroom environment. Participate in department meetings and contribute to curriculum development and program planning. Note: This is a part-time, contract position contingent on departmental needs. Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience Senior Lecturer must have at least 5 years of college-level teaching experience and a Master’s Degree or equivalent in Mechanical and/or Aerospace Engineering or a Doctoral degree or equivalent in the appropriate field, depending on departmental needs. Lecturer must have a Master’s Degree or equivalent in Mechanical and/or Aerospace Engineering or Doctoral degree or equivalent in the appropriate field, depending on departmental needs and qualifications to teach courses in the specialty. Other Required Qualifications Excellent teaching ability. A commitment to the success of students and programs. Strong foundational knowledge in mechanical and aerospace engineering or related fields. Ability to communicate complex engineering concepts clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing. Preferred Qualifications Experience in developing and delivering innovative instructional materials, including effective use of instructional technology.
