Executive Chef

Position Summary Executive Chef – Grand Hyatt Vail, Vail, Colorado Nestled at the base of Vail Mountain, along the banks of Gore Creek, Grand Hyatt Vail is located in the heart of Vail Valley within the Cascade Village neighborhood. The resort features Vail’s premier open‑air chairlift, a spacious ski valet and rental shop, and a luxurious ski‑in/ski‑out experience. The Executive Chef will be responsible for kitchen operations, including menu planning, provisioning, food preparation, and sanitation, while directing the training of culinary staff and other kitchen workers to ensure an efficient and profitable food service. Responsibilities Experience training food preparation employees. Instill safety and sanitation habits in all employees. Teach employees the importance of consistency in preparation and presentation. Maintain thorough knowledge of food handling and preparation techniques. Ensure consistent quality, portion control, and plate presentation. Coach and counsel employees to reflect Hyatt service standards and procedures. Manage kitchen staff under pressure, maintaining organization and flexibility. Support the hotel's leadership as a member of the Properties Leadership Committee. Qualifications 6 years or more of progressive hotel culinary experience (typically with Hyatt). At least 4 years in a senior culinary role. Demonstrated ability to interact with diverse backgrounds. Proven leadership skills and high energy, entrepreneurial spirit, and motivational leadership. Experience in high‑volume, high‑profile properties. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Clear concise written and verbal communication skills in English. Ability to improve the bottom line. Effective communicator, exceptional customer service and associate relations skills. Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal and administrative skills. Ability to maintain communications with corporate staff. Compensation & Benefits Salary range starts at $106,800 (actual pay based on experience).
