Labor and Delivery Nurse (L&D RN)

Job Overview Lead Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (LD RN) supports women during labor, childbirth, and postpartum care. Duties include monitoring fetal and maternal status, coaching mothers, assisting physicians, managing complications, and participating in cesarean deliveries. LD RNs may float to Postpartum or Mother‑Baby units as needed. Responsibilities Assist in labor and delivery, monitor fetal and maternal status, coach mothers, assist surgeons during cesarean deliveries, float to Postpartum or Mother‑Baby units, provide breastfeeding support after birth, work in hospitals, physician offices, birthing centers, and community clinics. Education and Requirements Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – 4‑Year Education Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) – 2‑Year Education Must earn an ADN or BSN degree and pass the NCLEX to obtain RN licensure. Active state RN license required. NRP certification required. Fetal heart monitor certification required.
