Controller Cleveland, Ohio Lead the Finance Function for a Stable, Well-Established Organization We're seeking an experienced Controller to lead the accounting and financial operations for a long-established organization with an exceptional reputation for stability and employee retention. What You'll Do As Controller, you'll oversee the organization's accounting operations while ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and efficient financial processes. Key responsibilities include: Lead all day-to-day accounting operations, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable/Billing, Payroll, and Job Cost Accounting. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Manage revenue recognition and percentage-of-completion accounting. Oversee multi-entity reporting and financial consolidations. Forecast cash flow and provide financial insights to executive leadership. Ensure timely billing, collections, and vendor payments. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial analyses. Coordinate annual financial statement audits with external auditors. Support tax reporting and statutory compliance requirements. Oversee payroll tax reporting and related compliance activities. Maintain and improve accounting systems and financial processes. Partner with leadership on special projects and operational initiatives. Develop, mentor, and cross-train accounting staff to build organizational depth and continuity. What We’re Looking For The successful candidate will bring a combination of strong technical accounting expertise and proven leadership experience. Qualifications include: Bachelor's degree in Accounting. CPA required. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities. Public accounting audit experience is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of GAAP and revenue recognition principles. Experience with percentage-of-completion accounting. Experience preparing financial statements and managing the month-end close process. Multi-entity accounting experience is preferred. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV, Sage Intacct, or comparable ERP systems is a plus.
