Our organization, in collaboration with a prominent healthcare facility serving the culturally rich communities of Queens, New York, is in search of a Medical Director for the Advanced Primary Stroke Program. This full-time leadership position requires a candidate proficient in both General Neurology and Stroke, as the facility is recognized as an Advanced Primary Stroke Center.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead ongoing initiatives within the Stroke Program, ensuring the maintenance of Stroke Center Certification and the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based stroke care.

Clinical Duties:

• Oversee and guide the Advanced Primary Stroke Center, managing systems and programs dedicated to the implementation and continuous enhancement of evidence-based stroke care.

• Drive program development to uphold TJC Advanced Primary Stroke Center accreditation.

• Coordinate and direct the stroke care team, facilitating effective communication and collaboration with medical staff, quality assurance, nursing, and other relevant parties by providing timely and accurate information.

• Serve as a resource for regulatory agencies, offering compliance recommendations and maintaining necessary documentation.

• Provide direct inpatient consultation services and outpatient care, while also teaching and supervising advanced practice providers, residents, and medical students.

• Champion patient and family advocacy by developing policies and services that uphold patient rights and foster optimal care environments, enhancing customer satisfaction.

• Assist in the coordination of the tele-stroke program and facilitate transfers to other facilities when necessary.

Qualifications:

• Possession of a medical degree from an accredited institution.

• A valid New York State medical license, along with a DEA and Medicaid number.

• Board certification in General Neurology, having completed a residency in an ACGME accredited Neurology program.

• Completion of a fellowship in vascular neurology is preferred.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.

• A strong commitment to teamwork within a patient-centered healthcare environment.

• Ability to cultivate and sustain supportive relationships with diverse groups, including nursing and physician colleagues, hospital administration, other departments, and external agencies.
