Job Title: Accounting Manager (Contract)

Pay: 40- $45/hour

Location: Washington, DC

In office 1-2 days a week

Employment Type: Contract/Temporary

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to support the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of a well-established organization. This individual will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting the month-end close, reconciliations, financial reporting, and ensuring strong accounting controls. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable stepping into an organization and contributing quickly.

 

Requirements:

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

· 5+ years of progressive accounting experience

· Prior Accounting Manager, Senior Accountant, or comparable experience

· Strong knowledge of GAAP and general ledger accounting

· Hands-on month-end close and account reconciliation experience

· Strong Excel skills

· Experience working with ERP/accounting systems

· Ability to work independently and quickly become productive in a contract environment

 

Key Responsibilities:

· Manage and support the monthly and year-end close processes

· Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger activity

· Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes

· Prepare financial statements and management reporting

· Review balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies

· Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis

· Support annual audits and provide requested documentation

· Maintain appropriate internal controls and accounting procedures

· Ensure accounting activities are completed accurately and on schedule

· Partner with leadership and other departments on accounting and financial matters
