About the Role
The Company is seeking a Vice President of People to lead its HR function and play a pivotal role in the organization's growth and development. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting and executing the people strategy, workforce planning, and HR organizational design. This includes leading a structured HR team, partnering with executive leadership on people matters, and ensuring that the organization's talent systems align with its mission and values. The role demands a senior HR leader with a strong background in California labor and employment law, particularly in the areas of compliance, risk management, and employee relations. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in a large, multi-site organization, with a focus on building and maintaining a culture of investment in people. Key responsibilities for the Vice President of People at the company include serving as the internal authority on labor and employment law, owning the strategy for workers' compensation and labor-related claims, and establishing enterprise-wide HR policies that are defensible and audit-ready. The role also involves leading the organization's talent culture, championing employee development, and ensuring a seamless experience for staff from recruitment to retention. The candidate should be adept at strategic workforce planning, and be prepared to evolve the HR function as the organization scales. Experience in a similar, growing, culture-forward organization is essential, and a background in youth development, education, or nonprofit sectors is preferred.
