Job Summary

Join a dedicated Maternal Child Health team at a modern Birthplace facility in New York, US. This unit features six Labor and Delivery Rooms, two Labor Triage rooms, eleven Postpartum Rooms, a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit with four single-family NICU rooms, and an integrated Cesarean Section Surgical Operating Room and PACU.

As a Registered Nurse, you will provide direct, person-centered patient care across the Maternal Child Health department, with a primary focus on Labor & Delivery. The role involves comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for patients and families with diverse needs, from uncomplicated to highly complex. Staff are cross-trained across Postpartum, Labor & Delivery, and NICU units, fostering a collaborative and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to a designated group of patients within the Maternal Child Health department.
• Collaborate with unit leadership to adhere to the scope of practice defined by nursing governing bodies (AWONN, ACOG, NNA, AORN).
• Conduct comprehensive observation, data collection, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patients' physical, psychological, emotional, educational, and spiritual needs.
• Assess patients and families, recognizing normal parameters, deviations, and abnormalities in physical, emotional, developmental, and behavioral status.
• Develop person-centered care plans and prioritize nursing interventions to meet patient and family needs effectively.
• Demonstrate critical thinking skills in making appropriate clinical decisions, prioritizing planned and unplanned events, and proactively addressing potential and actual problems.
• Act as a resource to peers and facilitate connections between patients/families and other disciplines/services as needed.
• Maintain current knowledge of facility policies, procedures, and standards.

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Demonstrated experience in Labor & Delivery.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Postpartum care.
• Cross-training or experience in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
