Adjunct Faculty - Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Primary Purpose The College of Dental Medicine at Nova Southeastern University is seeking adjunct faculty to assist with the clinical and didactic training of dental students under the direction of the Department Chair of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Job Category Non‑Exempt Hiring Range — (Not specified) Pay Basis Hourly Essential Job Functions Prepare and deliver instruction to Dental students. Facilitate activities in the classroom, simulation laboratory, clinic, and/or other setting(s). Act as a liaison between the students and the faculty course director. Provide and facilitate examinations. May include assigning grades consistent with course requirements. Teach or facilitate classes based on varied schedules to accommodate diverse student needs and to meet the expectations of the College as assigned by the designated faculty course director. Follow the course curriculum as assigned. Prepare assignments. Evaluate student performance and learning. Maintain an active classroom environment conducive to student learning and success. Assess clinical education needs and patient and client teaching needs using a variety of methods. Demonstrate patient care in clinical units. Complete NSU mandatory trainings (e.g., HIPAA compliance, technology training, Canvas training, etc.). Perform other related duties as assigned. Job Requirements Meet minimum requirements: Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge Dental Medicine – Comprehensive knowledge of the information/techniques needed in Dental Medicine, including symptoms and treatment planning. Education/Training – Knowledge of principles/methods for curriculum/training design/training for individuals/groups, and measurement of training effects. English Language – Thorough knowledge of the structure/content of the English language, including meaning, spelling, rules of composition, and grammar. Customer Service – General knowledge of principles/processes for providing customer and personal services, needs assessment, meeting quality standards, and evaluation of user satisfaction. Skills Instructing – Teaching others how to do something. Critical Thinking – Using logic/reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions/approaches to problems.
