Position Highlights This entry‑level professional position supports the delivery and basic development of Cooperative Extension programs in assigned focus areas such as agriculture, youth development (e.g., 4‑H), natural resources, family and consumer sciences, or community development. The role performs routine program and curriculum support, data collection and analysis, reporting, and community outreach under the guidance of senior extension professionals and faculty. This position will specifically address priority needs at the state and national levels and will facilitate the logistics of 4-H events that provide opportunities that support youth from all backgrounds to develop into competent, confident, and caring individuals who contribute to their community and demonstrate the character to be a responsible citizen. This role will focus on event logistics, registration, contracts, finances, and promotion of a wide array of all state level events. The Program Coordinator will implement the state level educational events and programs to include Arizona 4-H Summit, Clover Ball, J.O.L.T., Engaged Citizens Event, Emerging Leaders Event, and Arizona 4-H Stock Show & Expo. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for marketing, recruiting, and facilitating an in-bound international exchange program, facilitating the Arizona 4-H State Ambassador program. and will work with AmeriCorps and undergraduate work‑study students as they are available. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for supporting grant writing and implementation as well as implementing evaluation efforts. Duties & Responsibilities Program and CurriculumSupport Assist inadapting and implementing established extension educational programs andcurricula, delivered through local extension offices, for assigned focus areas. Help organizetopics, activities, and schedules for workshops and learning sessions based onexisting research‑based programs. Coordinatebasic logistics (rooms, materials, equipment) to support effective programdelivery. Data Collectionand Basic Analysis Conduct routinedata collection activities, such as distributing surveys, recording attendance,and gathering simple outcome information from program participants. Enter and cleandata in spreadsheets or databases and perform basic analysis (for example,summarizing counts, percentages, or simple trends). Use standardformats to compile findings into tables or charts to support programevaluation. Reporting and Communication Assist withpreparing standard reports, presentations, and summaries that describeextension program activities, participation, and basic results for internal andexternal stakeholders. Create simpleslides, handouts, or visual aids for meetings with community partners andadvisory groups. Maintain well‑organizeddocumentation so program history and results can be easily referenced. Community Outreachand Relationship Support Supportoutreach efforts for extension programs by sharing information with communitymembers, schools, and local organizations about offerings in assigned focusareas. Attendcommunity events and meetings to help staff tables, answer straightforwardquestions, and refer more complex inquiries to senior staff. Help identifycommunity resources, venues, and potential partners that can enhance programdelivery. Operations and VolunteerSupport Support day‑to‑dayoperations for extension facilities, events, or markets in assigned focusareas, including scheduling space, monitoring supplies, and tracking basicresource use. Assist withrecruiting, orienting, and providing basic instructions to volunteers andinterns who contribute to extension programs. Help withsimple marketing and promotion tasks, such as drafting short announcements orsocial media posts under supervision. Knowledge, Skillsand Abilities Basic knowledgeof extension or community‑based education principles andfamiliarity with research‑based programming. Skill inorganizing information, performing routine data analysis, and preparingstandard reports or presentations. Ability tocommunicate clearly in writing and verbally with colleagues, community members,and partners who may not be familiar with technical topics. Ability to manage multiple tasks, follow established procedures, and seek guidance whenencountering unfamiliar issues. Comfort working with various communities and a commitment to audience responsive engagement. Proficiencywith common office software (word processing, spreadsheets, presentation tools)and willingness to learn program‑specific systems. Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated ability managing budgets and utilizing grants and contracts. Teaching and volunteer management experience, formal or informal. Experience working in remote teams to implement events and engagement strategies. Experience with multiple forms of social media and web strategies to encourage event attendance and to create engaging experiences during the event. Experience coordinating and implementing international exchange programs. The ability to read, write, and speak Spanish or Native American languages spoken by Arizona tribal communities.
