Supplemental Virtual Patient Observation Technician- LBJ Hospital- Evenings (1:00pm- 9:30pm)

Job Summary The Virtual Patient Observation Technician (VPOT) provides continuous real‑time video monitoring of assigned patients to enhance safety, verbally redirects at‑risk behaviors, and communicates with nursing staff when further intervention is needed. The VPOT practices safety measures, documents observations, participates in performance improvement and quality initiatives, and promotes a customer‑friendly environment using ServiceFirst behaviors and Language of Caring techniques while interacting with patients, families, and staff members. Minimum Qualifications Education: High School diploma or equivalent with technical skills relevant to the specialty area. Licensure/Certification: Texas Nursing Assistant Certification or equivalent medical‑assistant certification and Basic Life Support (BLS). Certification options: American Medical Technologists (AMT); American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA); National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT); National Healthcareer Association (NHA); National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP). Work Experience: Two (2) years of related clinical experience; preferred specialties include direct patient care, virtual observation, telemetry technician, or hospital‑based clinical rotations. Equipment: Basic computer, wireless telephone, and intercom/headset communication. Special Requirements Communication Skills: Above‑average verbal skills with heavy public contact. Bilingual Skills Preferred: English/Spanish. Writing/Composing: Ability to produce correspondence and reports. Other Skills: Medical terminology, PC proficiency. Personal Attributes: Comfortable using computer technology and sitting for long periods in front of a screen. Ability to analyze and synthesize patient safety information to determine the course of action. Ability to make quick decisions under pressure and manage stress appropriately. Well‑organized, efficient multi‑tasker able to prioritize simultaneous and continuous monitoring of multiple patients on one screen. Attention to detail and sustained focus on individual patients or tasks. Good telephone etiquette. Work Schedule: Weekends, holidays, and flexible hours.
