Diesel Mechanic - Afternoon ShiftRequisition Id: 389237 Business Unit: LTL Location: Kansas City, KS, US, 66115What you'll need to succeed as a Diesel Mechanic at XPOMinimum qualifications:2 years of experience in tractor and trailer inspection and repair or a technical school degree with certification in heavy-duty truck/trailer maintenanceObtain EPA HVAC Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling Certification within 90 days of hire (ASE, MACS or equivalent)A valid driver's licenseBasic welding skills (Oxy/Acetylene, MIG and ARC) and mechanical skillsBasic hand tools required for heavy-duty trailer and tractor maintenanceBasic computer skillsBrake inspection qualified as defined in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations, Section 396.25Vehicle Inspection qualified as defined in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations, Section 396.19Available to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekendsPreferred qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent work-related or military experiencePrior mechanical experience such as automotive or skilled tradesPrevious or current ASE certificationsDiesel tech school diplomaExperience with trailer repair, diesel engine system diagnostics and preventive maintenance for tractor techniciansAble to diagnose and repair vehicle air conditioning systemsAbout the Diesel Mechanic jobPay, benefits and more:Experienced Technicians can earn up to $40.11/hour including Master Certification and shift differential.2nd Shift Shift, 2:00PM-10:30PM Monday - FridayCompany-provided uniformsTool allowance of $400 per quarterFull health insurance benefits on day oneLife and disability insuranceEarn up to 13 days of PTO over your first year, with accruals starting on day one9 paid company holidays401(k) option with company matchEducation assistanceThis is a Motor Carrier Act Exempt positionWhat you'll do on a typical day:Perform routine maintenance functions and adjustments on all types of class 6 through 8 diesel equipment, forklifts, and trailing equipmentAccess any of the equipment to perform necessary maintenance, including inspecting and performing work in, on or under part of the equipmentRepair or rebuild all or parts of various equipment systemsTroubleshoot and diagnose equipment and component issues and perform repairs accordinglyPerform HVAC system repairsAbiding by DOT, EPA, Interstate Authority, OSHA and other rules and regulationsConduct safety inspections on equipment and prepare safety documentation as neededMaintain proficiency with equipment and technologies that enhance productivityMove trailers throughout the property, operating a hostler in all types of weatherEnter job times and parts on repair orders to track activityOperate specialized tooling and vehiclesEnsure the work area is always clean, safe, and organizedInteract with operations and shop managementDiesel Mechanics are required to:Frequently lift up to 50 lbs. and occasionally lift more than 75 lbs.Safely walk and stand for extended periods on various surfaces that may be uneven or slippery, including working outdoors in inclement weatherReach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneelWalk and stand for extended periods on a loading dock that is not climate-controlled and may be slipperyAbout XPOXPO is a top ten global provider of transportation services, with a highly integrated network of people, technology and physical assets.
