This is a full-time on-site position located in Augusta; telework is not available for this role.

Core Responsibilities:

• Process child support payments by opening and reviewing daily mail; recording payments received from non-custodial parents; performing accurate data entry and record retention; and disbursing funds to custodial parents in a timely manner in compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Verify individual case information to determine public assistance enrollment status and calculate appropriate child support payment amounts in accordance with established guidelines.
• Provide customer service and support to internal and external customers by responding to inquiries, resolving issues, and delivering accurate information in a courteous and timely manner.
• Collaborate with team members to improve processes, resolve issues, and achieve department goals

Minimum Qualifications:

• Training, education, and/or experience in office and administrative support functions demonstrating competency in applying accounting principles, reviewing and maintaining financial records, and using independent judgment to prioritize work for efficiency and operational needs.
• Proven examples where initiative and attention to detail contributed to operational process improvements.
• An ability to be flexible and adjust to business needs while balancing multiple tasks and priorities. Strong time management skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines are essential.
• Outstanding customer service skills coupled with a strong work ethic and ability to excel while working with multiple stakeholders to achieve common goals. Teamwork is critical for success in this position.
• A proven ability to enter a considerable number of transactions yielding a high level of accuracy.

The DHHS Financial Service Center is responsible for program accounting, cash management, and revenue/expenditure controls for the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). The Service Center provides budgetary and fiscal analysis for many complex areas within DHHS, including TANF (i.e. Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) and MaineCare (Maine's Medicaid Program). The Service Center works collaboratively with senior leadership at State agencies, providing consultative financial and accounting services. Areas of fiscal expertise include compliance with State and Federal laws and regulations, statewide budgetary policy, budget development and monitoring, application of generally accepted accounting and financial practices, grant management, financial analysis, cash management, accounting and financial processing, and legislative support.
