Certified Maintenance Team Member

As a Maintenance Team Member at Winland Foods, you will ensure the reliability, safety, and efficiency of our production operations through troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives. Employee Type: Full time | Location: 20‑01 Broadway, Fair Lawn, NJ 07410 | Shift: 7pm–7:30am (12‑hour shift, first shift training). Key Responsibilities Troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. Assist with machine setup, equipment modifications, and rebuilds to ensure optimal performance. Maintain accurate documentation and update records in CMMS systems. Follow all safety protocols and uphold GMPs & food safety standards. Collaborate with team members and leadership to resolve equipment issues and minimize downtime. Support organization and inventory of spare parts for maintenance tasks. Assist in performing preventive maintenance and minor modifications on machinery such as packaging equipment and HVAC systems. Learn basic maintenance welding, minor fabrication, and millwright activities (cutting, grinding, simple assembly). Assist with basic building upkeep, including plumbing, HVAC, and water treatment system tasks. Perform equipment modifications, rebuilds, and preventive maintenance tasks on production and packaging machinery. Conduct millwright activities, including cutting, grinding, welding, and fabrication. Follow safety guidelines, maintain hazard‑free work areas, and comply with GMPs & food safety regulations. Monitor production lines, proactively address downtime issues, and support equipment changeovers. Follow all safety protocols, including LOTO, confined space, and hot work practices. Communicate effectively with team members to support production and learn from senior staff. Engage in on‑the‑job training to develop skills in equipment assembly, repair, and troubleshooting. Provide feedback to improve preventive maintenance programs and mentor less experienced team members. Support equipment monitoring, identify parts needed for repairs, and maintain a clean and organized workspace. Document maintenance activities, complete work orders, and ensure all equipment documentation is current and accessible. Use CMMS for data entry and reporting. Inspect and test equipment post‑repair to ensure functionality. Stay current on training expectations and assist in troubleshooting automation systems (e.g., PLC‑based). Qualifications & Experience High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum 1 year of work experience, preferably in manufacturing or food production. Forklift certification preferred (required for Advanced Level) or willingness to obtain if not held. 18+ years of age. Ability to follow verbal and written instruction and perform accurate math functions. Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot complex systems. Knowledge of GMPs, SQF, HACCP, FSMA, and other food safety regulations. Commitment to following all company safety policies and procedures, including lockout/tagout, safe lifting techniques, wearing required PPE such as Blue Nitrile Gloves in production Zone1 areas. Ability to effectively communicate with co‑workers, supervisors, and others in English (oral, written). Leadership ability, sets a positive example for team members. Strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, multi‑tasking in fast‑paced environment. Dependable, reliable, handles equipment safely. Must be able to work mandatory overtime, including Saturdays/Sundays as determined by business needs. Physical demands: stand and walk for extended periods, frequent climbing, pulling, pushing, carrying, grasping, reaching, twisting, turning, stooping; lift up to 50lbs frequently; good hand‑eye coordination, motor skills; vision 20/20 corrected; hearing normal; distinguish colors for color‑coded containers; wear required PPE; exposure to wet, humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high areas, fumes, electrical risks; maintain clean safe environment; report food safety or quality issues immediately. Benefits Salary: $33.00–$38.00 per hour (annual or hourly) based on experience and other qualifications. Based on Union Contract Provisions. Additional bonus potential.
