RN Unit Coordinator - Surgery Unit

Overview Sentara is currently hiring an RN Unit Coordinator to work at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital on the Surgery Unit 4 East. The 19‑bed unit specializes in postoperative surgical patient care with a nurse‑to‑patient ratio of 1:5/6. Clinical Focus Common surgical procedures include: Da Vinci robotic surgery for colon, urology, and gynecologic procedures Urology cases such as TURB, continuous bladder irrigation, stent placement Gynecologic surgeries with bladder/colon resections Vascular procedures such as amputations, femoral‑popliteal bypass, fistulas Mastectomies and breast reconstruction staging Soft tissue trauma care including gunshot/stab wounds, MVAs, chest tubes Medical conditions treated include: Inflammatory bowel disease such as diverticulitis, Crohn’s, ulcerative colitis, colorectal fistulas Kidney injury (acute and chronic) Sepsis, pneumonia, asthma, diabetes, and other medical conditions Responsibilities RN Unit Coordinators demonstrate proficiency in nursing practice for their specialty area and provide clinical leadership for the delivery of nursing care. Under the direction of the department manager, they lead safety and quality initiatives, simplify workflow, develop staff, increase satisfaction, and promote excellent (Gold Standard) customer service.
