Tool Room Machinist - Fort Wayne, IndianaContract role through 2026, potential contact-to-hirePay Rate: up to $28.00 per hour (based on proven work history)Available Shifts : Training REQUIRED on 1st Shift (approx. 3 weeks)3rd Shift: 11:00pm to 7:30amPosition involves: Machine Shop-style tooling production, Frequent setup/teardown work, Mostly lathe-based equipmentDescription of the Tool Room Machinist:The Tool Room Machinist is responsible for setting up, adjusting, and operating manual and CNC machine tools to manufacture, repair, and modify tooling, fixtures, dies, gauges, and precision components. This position supports production by ensuring tooling accuracy, quality, and minimal downtime.Required Skills of the Tool Room Machinist:Strong blueprint reading and GD&T knowledgeProficient in manual machining (critical in tool room environment)Knowledge of tool steels, heat treating, and surface finishesProficiency using calipers, micrometers, and other inspection equipmentRequired Experience and Education of the Tool Room Machinist:3-7 years experience in a tool room or precision machining environmentExperience with tight tolerance machiningUnderstand CNC programmingEdit/upload programs into equipmentSet up CNC mills and/or lathes (prove out programs, set offsets, adjust tooling)Read and Interpret blueprints, GD&T, and engineering drawingsManufacture and repair fixtures, dies, jigs, and special toolingHold tight tolerances (+/- .0005 " or as required)High School Diploma or GEDMust be able to work independently/self-manage on off shift(s)A successful candidate will be subject to a background check and must receive satisfactory results of the same, as a condition of joining the team.By applying for this role, you confirm that all information submitted is accurate and complete.
