Tool Room Technician - Fort Wayne, IN - $27/hr

Location: Fort Wayne, IN

Work Arrangement: Onsite

Overview:

We're seeking experienced Tool Room Technicians to support manufacturing operations through the machining, repair, and modification of tooling, fixtures, dies, gauges, and precision components.

This role is ideal for a machinist with strong CNC and manual machining experience who enjoys working with tight tolerances, blueprint interpretation, and precision tooling. You'll play a critical role in minimizing downtime and ensuring tooling accuracy in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Set up, adjust, and operate CNC mills and lathes.

Perform manual machining operations to manufacture and repair tooling and fixtures.

Troubleshoot machining issues and adjust tooling, offsets, and programs as needed.

Manufacture, repair, and modify dies, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and special tooling.

Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T specifications.

Hold tight machining tolerances of ±.0005" or as required.

Inspect finished components using calipers, micrometers, and precision inspection equipment.

Support production by ensuring tooling quality, accuracy, and availability.

Maintain a safe and organized work environment.

Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED.

3+ years of experience in a tool room or precision machining environment.

Experience setting up and operating CNC mills and/or CNC lathes.

Strong manual machining experience.

Experience machining to tight tolerances.

Ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings.

Strong understanding of GD&T.

Knowledge of tool steels, heat treating, and surface finishes.

Proficiency using calipers, micrometers, and precision inspection equipment.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

5+ years of tool room machining experience.

Automotive manufacturing experience.

Experience repairing tooling and fixtures.

Experience proving out CNC programs and adjusting offsets.

Advanced GD&T knowledge.

Compensation & Benefits:

Pay Rate: $27/hour

2nd Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM

3rd Shift: 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM
