Commercial Finance Director - High Profile CPG!

Commercial Planning & Forecasting: Build a strong understanding of the CPG landscape; evaluate sales performance trends, establish KPIs, and track orders, shipments, consumption, and velocity metrics (e.g., Circana/IRI). Partner with Sales and Marketing to develop and refine forecasts by product, SKU, and geography. Sales & Commercial Support: Monitor actuals versus plan and provide actionable variance analysis; support sales incentive compensation tracking, including commission and bonus calculations. Pricing & Trade Investment: Administer and analyze pricing strategies, promotional discounts, and trade spend; evaluate brand investment effectiveness and oversee local marketing fund utilization. Collaborate cross-functionally to gather and translate market intelligence into strategic recommendations. Margin & Profitability Analysis: Develop a comprehensive understanding of cost drivers across the supply chain; perform detailed SKU-level margin analysis and lead recurring profitability reviews on a monthly and quarterly basis. New Product Financial Analysis: Partner with cross-functional teams (R&D, Operations, Marketing) to assess cost structures and profitability for new product launches, ensuring alignment with financial targets. Inventory & Demand Planning Support: Analyze inventory metrics including days sales of inventory (DSI), shelf life, and obsolescence risk; provide insights to improve forecast accuracy and optimize working capital. Budgeting & Financial Planning: Play a key role in the annual operating plan (AOP); facilitate planning sessions with brand and commercial leaders to define key assumptions and growth drivers; support budget reviews and develop executive-level presentations. Qualifications Required: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a STEM discipline (with relevant experience). 10–15 years of experience in a highly analytical, finance, or commercial strategy role. Advanced degree (MBA, MS, MFE) preferred. Strong financial acumen, including the ability to interpret financial statements and a solid understanding of GAAP. Demonstrated ability to synthesize large datasets into meaningful insights and translate findings into actionable business recommendations. Proven critical thinking skills with the ability to connect strategic objectives to operational execution. Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across functions and leadership levels. Prior experience supporting commercial or sales organizations. Preferred: Experience within the CPG industry strongly preferred. Familiarity with syndicated data sources such as Circana (IRI/Nielsen) and other market intelligence platforms. Experience working with large-scale planning and reporting tools such as Anaplan, Adaptive, Planful, OneStream, or Essbase.
