Job Title: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Registered Nurse (MS/Tele RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) for a contract opportunity in a fast-paced acute care setting. The ideal candidate will have strong telemetry skills and experience caring for orthopedic, trauma, and medical-surgical patients.

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of MS/Tele RN experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Active RN license required
• Pending licenses not accepted
• BLS certification required
• Epic experience preferred
• Must be competent in:
  • Phlebotomy
  • Peripheral IV insertion

Clinical Skills Required

• Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing
• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• IV insulin protocols
• Feeding tube care and management
• Blood product administration
• Peripheral line care and management
• Heparin protocols
• Cardiac drips (non-titrating)
• PCA management
• Orthopedic trauma care
• Total joint replacement care
• Chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac)
• CPAP/BiPAP management
• High-Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
• Tracheostomy care
• Wound care and wound vac management

Common Patient Diagnoses

• Osteoarthritis
• Fractures and orthopedic injuries
• Post-surgical orthopedic patients
• Medical-surgical and telemetry patients requiring cardiac monitoring

Patient Ratios

• Days/Evenings: Typically 5:1
• Nights: Typically 6–7:1

Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to medical-surgical and telemetry patients.
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition.
• Administer medications, blood products, and specialty therapies according to protocols.
• Perform IV starts and blood draws as required.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the EMR system.
