Job Overview

Jensen Hughes is seeking a Healthcare Emergency Management Consultant to support emergency preparedness and mutual aid coordination for long-term care facilities in California Region 1.

The role supports the development and implementation of a Long-Term Care Mutual Aid Plan (LTC-MAP) serving approximately 486 skilled nursing facilities in Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo counties.

Working with LeadingAge California and Jensen Hughes subject matter experts, the consultant will coordinate with skilled nursing facilities, county and regional emergency management partners, the California Department of Public Health, the California Association of Health Facilities, and other stakeholders. The work includes site visits, facility onboarding and orientation, initial and annual training, reporting drills, and annual full-scale disaster exercises with documentation aligned with HSEEP.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a primary contact for client engagements and build productive, lasting relationships.
• Apply knowledge of mutual aid in long-term care settings and working knowledge of the CMS 2016 Emergency Preparedness Rule, applicable accrediting organization standards, and relevant NFPA standards.
• Coordinate and facilitate meetings, workshops, and exercises with local and regional healthcare and emergency response partners.
• Present information clearly to groups with different roles and levels of technical knowledge.
• Identify business opportunities, support proposals, participate in industry events, and present solutions to prospective clients.
• Work with colleagues across disciplines to develop services, professional insights, and client education materials.
• Keep current with changes in regulations, accreditation standards, and professional practice.

Requirements and Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in emergency management, fire protection, fire science, safety, or a related field is preferred. An associate degree with relevant experience will also be considered.
• Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) or Associate Emergency Manager (AEM) credentials are preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Sound judgment and ability to communicate effectively with clients and partners.
• Experience coordinating or facilitating training and exercises with healthcare and emergency response partners.
• Interest in growing client relationships and developing business.
• Communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain information to varied audiences.
• Ability to organize work, manage time, and adapt to changing priorities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn new technology platforms.
• Ability to travel domestically up to 50%. Travel within the Region 1 counties may exceed 50% during the first year.

National Pay Range

$95,000—$120,000 USD
