Drug and Alcohol Counselor

Job Description We are seeking an Alcohol and Drug Counselor to join our team! You will be responsible for facilitating groups, counseling clients on services available for treatment, helping combat relapses, and building long-term life skills to maintain sobriety. Responsibilities Conduct groups and 1:1 counseling sessions with clients per program standards and document progress and participation. Obtain clinical information from the intake assessment, medical hx questionnaire, biopsycho-social assessment and use the information to develop and implement a collaborative treatment plan. Maintains thorough clinical records for clients, including all services provided as part of individualized episode. Prepare progress reports and letters for relevant parties, if applicable. Educate families and groups on substance abuse treatments and prevention programs. Facilitate referrals to other healthcare or counseling professionals. Assists the client in discharge planning, identifying needs, and linking client to services. Ensures documentation adheres to all regulatory time-frames and requirements. Qualifications 2+ years experience in counseling with a focus on group therapy and clinical documentation. Experience in conflict resolution. Compassionate and caring demeanor. Ability to build rapport with clients. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Certification with a state of California counselor certifying organization. Minimum requirements for position Physical, TB test, Drug Screen, able to present in a professional fashion orally and physically, maintain and uphold strong boundaries while having a therapeutic manner. If recovering from substance abuse, must have at least one year of continuous sobriety. Knowledge of 12 step base recovery a plus but not mandatory.
