Job Overview The Clinical Counselor works under the general direction of the Supervising Psychiatric Social Worker in the Medical Services, Integrated Care & Complex Patient Populations Division. The role applies counseling interventions and psychotherapeutic techniques to treat incarcerated individuals with Substance Use Disorder and to develop preventative wellness skills. The role also performs assessments to facilitate transitional care planning and coordinated linkage to resources. Responsibilities Apply counseling interventions and psychotherapeutic techniques within the scope of applicable Business and Professions Code(s) and relevant license(s). Conduct assessments to facilitate transitional care planning and coordinate linkage of incarcerated patients with resources. Assist in developing preventative skills and behaviors for wellness of incarcerated individuals with Substance Use Disorder. Compensation and Leave Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) reduces each full‑time employee’s base salary by 3 percent and provides 5 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Salaries do not reflect the recent changes.
