We cater logistics strategies and processes to our customers' needs by utilizing the latest information systems and advanced technologies.Position SummaryThis position is responsible for loading vehicles into bi-level/tri-level auto racks for delivery to off-loading destination sites, in accordance with the guidelines set by the Association of American Railroads and Hyundai Glovis transportation & vehicle handling procedures. Must be open to overtime and weekend work.ResponsibilitiesPerform loading operationsDrive customers vehiclesWalk long distancesUse of hand toolsSet up and store bridge platesOpen/close and seal rail car doorAscend and descend rail car ladder (using 3 points of contact)Perform loading operations in accordance to the practices and standard of the Association of American railroads and Hyundai GLOVIS transportation and handling manualFollow rules, regulations and proceduresReport all hazard/injuries/near misses to van driver or supervisorCommunicate well with co-workersPerform tasks in safe mannerFollow supervisor and van drivers given instructionsObey lead person, supervisor instructionsMake sound decisions in preventing hazard to yourself and co-workerPerform all rail loading activities following AAR practices and standardsObey all OSHA, FRA, AAR, Hyundai Glovis transportation manual, local and State guidelines and regulationsProperly wear safety equipment when working in and around railAscend and descend utilizing 3 points contact rule on ladder and crossing over bridged platesWrite down VIN numbers on verification sheet (with training and approval)Scan vehicle with scanning device (with training and approval)Spot/park vehicle inside rail cars (with training and approval)Operate loading ramp (with training and approval)Other duties as assignedCompensation$24.64 per hourSkillsAbility to read and write requiredAbility to effectively communicate verbally and in writing requiredAbility to interpret and follow verbal and written instruction requiredAbility to record and verify numbers characters in length requiredAbility to work independently and in crew settings requiredAbility to work in confined quarters requiredAbility to drive both automatic and standard shift vehicles requiredEducation & ExperienceMust hold a valid driver's license required1 year of rail loading experience preferredPhysical RequirementsRepetitive use of hand/grasping and fine manipulationLift and carry up to 50 lbs.Sit, stand, walk, drive, bend, stoop, climb, reach over shoulder, balance, jump constantly 5+ hours per dayKneel, push, pull, squat, crawl, crouch frequently 3-5 hours per dayWorking and Environmental ConditionsTypical outside environmentMust be comfortable working at heights (e.g., upper decks of rail cars)Must be comfortable operating loading rampExposure to dust, fumes, and gases accumulated inside rail carThe position is based in a plant manufacturing/warehousing environment at Port Hueneme, CAWill occasionally use scanner or tabletThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature of work performed by employees assigned to this position.
