Role Description The Lead Engineer is a full‑time, on‑site role based in Bel Air, MD, responsible for overseeing engineering projects and technical initiatives that support water and wastewater systems. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include leading the design, analysis, and implementation of infrastructure improvements, coordinating project plans and schedules, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety requirements. This role collaborates with cross‑functional teams to evaluate system performance, recommend upgrades, and support capital planning and asset management. The Lead Engineer provides technical guidance to other engineers and staff, reviews and approves engineering calculations and drawings, and works closely with operations and construction teams to support successful project delivery. The position also involves preparing reports, participating in budgeting and cost estimation, and contributing to continuous improvement of engineering standards and practices. Qualifications Strong foundation in civil, environmental, mechanical, or related engineering disciplines, with experience in water and/or wastewater systems. Proficiency in engineering design and analysis tools (e.g., CAD software, hydraulic modeling, asset management or GIS systems). Demonstrated ability to lead projects, manage schedules and budgets, and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders. Knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and regulatory requirements affecting water and wastewater utilities. Effective communication skills, including the ability to present technical information clearly and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and decision‑making abilities, with attention to safety, quality, and reliability. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field; Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward licensure is preferred. Experience in utility, municipal infrastructure, or industrial facilities engineering is highly beneficial.
