Senior Payroll & HR Administrator

We’re seeking a Senior Payroll & HR Administrator to support our growing California operations. This role is responsible for accurate, timely payroll for a high-volume union workforce while ensuring compliance with collective bargaining agreements and California labor laws.

The ideal candidate has strong union payroll experience and understands the unique needs of field-based employees.

What You’ll Do

• Process full-cycle payroll for hourly union employees, field crews, and salaried staff
• Interpret and apply union agreements , including wages, overtime, shift differentials, and fringe benefits
• Ensure compliance with California wage & hour laws
• Prepare union reports, dues, and benefit contributions
• Support certified payroll and prevailing wage reporting
• Reconcile payroll with job costing, accounting, and project data
• Administer Paylocity payroll, HRIS, and timekeeping systems
• Audit payroll data and resolve discrepancies
• Manage onboarding, employee changes, terminations, and union documentation
• Support benefits administration and employee HR/payroll questions
• Partner with Operations and leadership on payroll, classification, and compliance matters
• Support union audits and labor compliance reviews

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of payroll experience , including hands-on California union payroll
• Strong union payroll experience required
• Paylocity experience strongly preferred
• Knowledge of California wage & hour laws and payroll compliance
• Experience with field-based, construction, or similar hourly workforces
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills
• Professionalism, discretion, and ability to handle confidential information
• Ability to work effectively under tight payroll deadlines

Preferred

• Certified payroll / prevailing wage experience
• Traffic control, construction, or infrastructure experience
• CPP certification
• Multi-location payroll experience
