Staff Pharmacist

We are searching for a Staff Pharmacist—someone who thrives in a patient-centered, high-touch clinical setting. In this position, you will promote pharmaceutical care by managing complex specialty medication therapies, identifying and preventing potential drug-related problems, and resolving actual drug-related problems. Additionally, you will perform the duties of a registered pharmacist with an emphasis on specialty medication management, patient counseling, and adherence support. All responsibilities will be performed in a manner developmentally appropriate for the ages of patients served (0–adult).

Responsibilities

• Ensures specialty medications meet the highest standards for safety, efficacy, and appropriate utilization
• Participates in the education of patients, caregivers, and the community on specialty disease states, complex medication regimens, and self-administration techniques
• Supports patient safety systems, including monitoring for adverse effects, drug interactions, and therapy-specific risk management programs (e.g., REMS)
• Checks all available means of communication including e-mail, mailbox, and voicemail every shift
• Ensures the smooth operation of the specialty clinic pharmacy and acts as a role model for technicians and other pharmacists as evidenced by lack of complaints, medication incident reports, and peer review
• Maintains specialty drug records and documentation according to departmental policy, including limited distribution drug (LDD) program requirements
• Contributes to the medication management process, including prior authorization support, benefits verification coordination, and therapy initiation workflows
• Conducts patient medication reviews and counseling, ensuring that patients and caregivers understand their specialty medication therapies, administration techniques, storage requirements, and adherence expectations
• Monitors patient outcomes and adherence, collaborating with clinic providers to optimize therapy and address barriers to care
• Participates in quality improvement initiatives and supports clinical program development within the specialty pharmacy

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or Pharm.D. required
• RPH certification from the state of Texas required
• 2+ years of pharmacist experience preferred; specialty pharmacy or ambulatory clinic experience preferred
