Job Description
Registered Nurse (RN) - Labor and Delivery

Position Description

This position involves caring for a diverse range of patients in the Labor and Delivery unit, including those in labor, undergoing circulating c-sections, and antepartum patients. Responsibilities include conducting initial assessments for newborns and providing immediate postpartum care.

Shift Details

Shift: Nights - 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM

Start Date: ASAP

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

BLS certification required
Active RN license in the state of employment or a compact license
Current certification required from one of the following:
- AWHONN Intermediate FHM Instructor
- AWHONN Instructor Trainer
- NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) (must obtain certification within one month after passing the exam)
Current NRP certification required
Current ACLS certification required

Requirements

Weekend requirement: Yes
On-call requirement: No
Floating requirement: No

Nurse/Patient Ratios

1:1 on Pitocin for induction or augmentation
1:2 for cervical ripening (Cytotec or low dose Pitocin)
1:2-3 for Antepartum (depending on acuity)
1:2-3 for Triage
1:1 for immediate postpartum care (2 hours post-birth) for both mother and baby

Dress Code

Navy blue or pink scrubs are required.

Experience

A minimum of 1 year of nursing experience is required.
