Job Title Product Development Admin III Duration 12 months contract Job Description This candidate will be doing color cosmetics product development supporting the LIP category, reporting to the Product Development Senior Manager. Daily responsibilities will include formula assessment, color assessment, component assessment, and feedback to vendors on what they have submitted. Candidate is highly organized, deeply passionate about makeup artistry and texture innovation, and possess a keen eye for color theory and emerging beauty trends. Working closely with laboratories, marketing, packaging, and regulatory teams, you will help translate creative brand visions into reality, ensuring all products meet the brand’s rigorous standards for payoff, wear, comfort, and inclusivity. Key Responsibilities Brief Creation: Assist in drafting comprehensive technical and creative product development briefs for laboratories, detailing performance expectations, benchmark standards, shade direction, and aesthetic criteria. Shade & Texture Evaluation: Critically assess submission samples from internal and external laboratories. Evaluate texture, payoff, wear-time, application, scent, and overall performance. Color Matching & Direction: Direct labs on shade modifications, undertones, and color matching across diverse skin tones to ensure ultimate inclusivity. Formula Submissions Management: Keep track of all formula iterations, maintaining organized feedback logs and managing standard-setting controls for approved formulas. Panel Testing Coordination: Organize internal testing panels to gather peer feedback on formula comfort, texture preference, and ease of application. Competitive Analysis: Consistently benchmark competitor lip products globally. Track market share leaders, viral social media trends, and ingredient innovations to find white space opportunities for the brand. Trend Presentation: Proactively present new texture ideas, innovative application methods, and trending color palettes to the broader marketing and development teams. Job Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Cosmetology, Marketing, Business, or a related scientific/creative discipline. Experience: 2 to 4 years of cosmetic product development experience, ideally focusing on color cosmetics (direct experience in the lip category is a major plus). Beauty retail experience is also a plus. Color & Sensory Acuity: Excellent visual color perception (you will be required to pass a color test) and the ability to articulate sensory texture characteristics (e.g., slip, drag, cushion, tackiness). Market Passion: Deep‑seated knowledge of and interest in the beauty industry, pop culture, social media beauty trends (TikTok, Instagram), and professional makeup artistry. Agility & Proactivity: High comfort level in a fast‑paced, agile environment where timelines are condensed and priorities shift quickly. Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to comfortably collaborate with technical chemists and creative marketers alike.
