The selected candidate will be responsible for participating in the measurement and warranty inspections of construction projects involving infrastructure installation and concrete and asphalt paving for conformance with plan specifications and contracts. This individual will establish and maintain effective working relationships with contractors, utilities, the general public, and other employees. The Candidate should be a responsible, dependable, and extremely detail-oriented individual who is willing to learn.Minimum Qualifications:High School Diploma or GEDValid driver's licenseMust pass physical and drug screenPreferred Qualifications:Experience in the interpretation of plans and specifications in the construction of infrastructure projectsExperience with measuring and inspecting HMAC and Concrete pavement and underground utilitiesMS Access, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat Pro skillsThe Quality Control Construction Inspector I job responsibilities include:Reviews plans and specifications for the assigned projects prior to measurement and warranty inspectionObserves work during progress and upon completion. Ensures that safety procedures are followedDemonstrates strong interpersonal, management, and communication skills, with a proven ability to convey complex ideas clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing to both internal City staff and the development communityCompletes construction project measurements, prepares daily quantity calculations including plan markups, drawings, spreadsheets, and picturesResolves quantity differences in the contractor's pay estimates with project inspectors and contractorsCoordinates with other employees and contractors on large projects that require traffic control and surveyingCompletes Warranty Inspections with contractors and other employees to ensure that any defects in workmanship or materials are corrected before the release of maintenance bondsWorking ConditionsDepending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting.Physical DemandMedium work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.Apply Now!
