Hiring for a Field Service Engineer!

Location: Connecticut / Northern Massachusetts

Travel: Up to 85% frequent travel with overnight stays as required

The ideal candidate will possess strong electronic troubleshooting skills, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work independently in customer environments. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically driven professional who enjoys problem-solving, travel, and working directly with customers in industries such as aerospace, electronics, automotive, medical devices, manufacturing, and energy.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, commission, and validate XRF and material analysis systems at customer locations.
• Perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, repair, calibration, and certification activities.
• Verify instrument performance and ensure systems meet operational specifications.
• Troubleshoot complex electronic, mechanical, and software-related issues using schematics, technical documentation, diagnostic software, and test equipment.
• Ensure compliance with all radiation safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
• Provide customer training on equipment operation, safety procedures, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance.
• Deliver technical support through on-site visits, phone support, and email communication.
• Complete detailed service reports, calibration records, and regulatory documentation accurately and on time.
• Communicate recurring technical issues, customer feedback, and product improvement recommendations to engineering and management teams.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing product reliability, service efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
• Maintain a high level of professionalism while representing the company at customer sites.

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent training in Electronics Technology, Electrical Technology, Mechanical Technology, Instrumentation, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing electronic systems.
• Previous field service experience with significant travel requirements.
• Experience working in regulated environments, including radiation, FDA, ISO, or similar compliance-driven industries.
• Strong proficiency with electronic diagnostic equipment, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, and related test instruments.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and customer service skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively manage travel schedules.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel domestically up to 85% of the time, including overnight travel.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience servicing X-ray, laboratory, analytical, or scientific instrumentation.
• Knowledge of radiation safety practices and regulations.
• Background supporting manufacturing, aerospace, electronics, medical device, or quality control environments.
• Familiarity with software-based diagnostics and instrumentation networks.

Job Type & Location: This is a Permanent position based out of Windsor, CT.

Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $80000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
