Software Engineer II - Java/J2EE

Job Description This job is responsible for developing and delivering complex requirements to accomplish business goals. The role ensures software is designed, coded, unit tested, and integrated into the overall application/system with robust interfaces while meeting functional, non‑functional, and compliance requirements. Position Summary This Full‑Stack Software Development Engineer role works with the Bank of America Erica, Chat and Voice Technology team to build next‑generation AI and Search platforms that enable banking assistants and search across multiple channels. The candidate should be proficient in both client‑side and server‑side technologies, passionate about producing high‑quality software, and ready to solve complex problems while performing code reviews. Candidates are expected to write unit and integration tests and to support hybrid engineering tasks within an agile team. Responsibilities Code solutions and unit test to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements Utilize multiple architectural components (across data, application, business) in the design and development of client requirements Perform continuous integration and continuous development (CI‑CD) activities Contribute to story refinement and definition of requirements Participate in estimating work necessary to realize a story/requirement through the delivery lifecycle Contribute to existing test suites (integration, regression, performance), analyze test reports, identify any test issues/errors, and triage the underlying cause Perform spike/proof‑of‑concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas Required Qualifications 5+ years of hands‑on software development experience using Java/J2EE technologies Good interpersonal communication skills for technical and business conversations Strong analytical skills to break down requirements and solve complex problems Desired Qualifications Experience working on high‑volume applications Experience with server‑side frameworks such as Spring MVC Experience building RESTful web services Experience in performance tuning with a strong understanding of JVM internals Experience with NoSQL databases such as Cassandra Experience in distributed caching frameworks such as Hazelcast, Ignite, Redis Experience with modern JVM languages like Groovy or Scala Experience with open‑source search engines such as SOLR or Elasticsearch Experience working with NLP and machine learning Prior open‑source contributions Proven task management and leadership skills Experience working in agile teams Skills Application Development Automation Collaboration DevOps Practices Solution Design Agile Practices Architecture Result Orientation Solution Delivery Process User Experience Design Analytical Thinking Data Management Risk Management Technical Strategy Development Test Engineering Education Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field Shift 1st shift (United States of America) #J-18808-Ljbffr
