Registered Nurse NICU Clinical Coordinator

Las Palmas Medical Center in El Paso, Texas is seeking a Registered Nurse NICU Clinical Coordinator to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. As a key clinical leader in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, you will coordinate and deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care for high-risk and critically ill newborns while supporting and guiding the NICU nursing staff. You will function as a clinical expert at the bedside, assisting with complex patient care, stabilizations, and emergency situations, while ensuring that care is family-centered, safe, and aligned with hospital and regulatory standards. In this role, you will collaborate closely with neonatologists, respiratory therapists, lactation consultants, and the broader multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized plans of care, participate in clinical rounds, and advocate for the unique needs of each infant and family. You will play a vital part in ongoing quality improvement projects, tracking clinical outcomes, supporting evidence-based practice, and helping implement new protocols, policies, and best practices in the NICU. The NICU Clinical Coordinator will help precept, mentor, and coach nurses and support staff, assist with staffing and patient assignment decisions, and provide input into scheduling and resource allocation to promote safe staffing levels and an effective workflow. You will participate in staff education, skills validation, and competency assessments, helping ensure that the NICU team maintains current neonatal knowledge and technical proficiency. This position also supports regulatory readiness activities, documentation compliance, and adherence to infection prevention and patient safety initiatives. Working within a culture focused on community health needs and compassionate care, you will be expected to communicate effectively with families, provide education on neonatal conditions and treatments, and offer emotional support during stressful and often critical situations. The ideal candidate will bring strong clinical NICU experience, sound critical thinking and decision-making skills, the ability to remain calm under pressure, and a passion for leading and supporting a collaborative care team. This is a hospital-based, full-time role requiring flexibility for day, night, weekend, and holiday coverage as operationally needed.
