Sr. Regional Drinking Water Process Leader Date: Jun 17, 2026 Location: Atlanta, GA, US; Cary, NC, US; Greenville, SC, US; Charlotte, NC, US Company: Black & Veatch Family of Companies Overview As a lead water process engineer, you will provide technical leadership in conventional and advanced drinking water treatment, including coagulation, clarification, softening, membrane filtration, reverse osmosis, UV/AOP, ozonation, and distribution system water quality. You will develop engineering solutions, mentor junior staff, and support business development activities. Key Responsibilities Prepare engineering deliverables such as process calculations, design basis memoranda, flow diagrams, P&IDs, trade‑off studies, and master planning studies. Support multiple projects simultaneously while managing technical challenges. Act as a technical specialist, providing guidance on water quality and treatment systems. Conduct applied research using bench, pilot, and full‑scale testing. Recommend treatment processes, equipment, and materials for projects. Collect, analyze, and manage data for design and operational purposes. Develop advanced engineering calculations and life‑cycle cost analyses. Maintain project scope, budget, and schedule while ensuring quality. Communicate technical results and recommendations to clients and stakeholders. Coordinate with internal and external team members for project execution. Assist in client‑relations activities, including business development and proposal support. Present research findings and industry trends at conferences. Support hiring, coaching, and development of junior engineers. Review and manage work of junior engineering staff. Provide guidance on engineering standards and codes relevant to water quality and treatment. Assist in updating and maintaining department design guides and standards. Supervise subordinates and manage hiring, discipline, and pay administration. Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree (Master’s or Doctoral) in civil, environmental, or chemical engineering. At least 15 years of experience in drinking water treatment, including 5+ years in water quality and treatment. Expertise in municipal effluent reuse, brackish and seawater desalination, and brine management. Strong leadership skills with experience in consulting, project execution, and business development. Excellent written and oral communication, priority setting, planning, delegation, and conflict management. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering from a recognized accredited program. Minimum of 15 years of related work experience. Ability to complete required pre‑employment checks such as background, drug screening, and motor‑vehicle record searches. Professional engineering license in the United States or ability to obtain one within two years. Certifications Professional engineering license in any U.S. state or a plan to obtain one within two years. Work Environment and Physical Demands Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days based on manager discretion and performance.
