Staff Nurse – RN – Behavioral Health – Geriatrics / 4South – Day/Evening – Rotating At NewYork‑Presbyterian we offer a full‑time, day/evening rotating role on a 23‑bed geriatric psychiatry unit. The unit treats patients aged 60 and older with a wide spectrum of mental health conditions and often requires assistance with activities of daily living. Common patient behaviors include agitation, physical or verbal aggression, depression, withdrawal, and psychosis. Most patients also have medical comorbidities that complicate their psychiatric care. The average length of stay is about 12 days. The position is a 3×12 hour shift plus an additional 8 hours bi‑weekly (7 am–11:30 pm), with coverage of every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday). The job requires on‑site presence throughout the NewYork‑Presbyterian Hospital / Westchester Behavioral Health campus. Preferred Criteria At least 1 year of prior inpatient Med‑Surg nursing experience Relevant nursing certifications Required Criteria Bachelor’s degree in nursing Current New York State RN license BCLS certification Knowledge of the nursing process across social, behavioral, biological, and physical domains Knowledge of the current health care environment Knowledge of customer service principles Effective interpersonal communication skills Competency in computer applications Ability to analyze patient care data to deliver and evaluate care New graduate must complete the Nurse Residency Program NewYork‑Presbyterian is an equal opportunity employer.
