Steira Air is seeking a dependable, hands-on, and customer-focused Field Service Technician based in the Lexington, Kentucky area to support facility service and maintenance operations at Veterans Affairs (VA) hospitals, healthcare facilities, local and federal correctional facilities, municipal buildings, and other government and commercial properties.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with their hands, solving problems, traveling to different locations, and developing valuable technical skills.

You do not need a professional trade license or specialized certification to apply. We are interested in individuals with practical experience in warehouse operations, construction, HVAC assistance, plumbing, automotive or mechanical work, equipment maintenance, or similar hands-on environments.

What You'll Do

• Assist with facility maintenance, service tasks, inspections, and equipment-related work at hospitals, VA facilities, correctional facilities, municipal buildings, and other assigned locations.
• Perform hands-on work involving building systems, facility components, equipment, and related service activities.
• Work in a variety of environments, including mechanical rooms, confined or restricted-access work areas, and tight spaces where the assigned tasks require it.
• Safely use hand tools, basic equipment, and materials appropriate to assigned duties.
• Travel to customer locations throughout the region and work out of town for multiple days each week.
• Communicate professionally with facility personnel, customers, supervisors, and management.
• Recognize potential additional service needs and communicate recommendations or upselling opportunities to the appropriate customer contact or company leadership.
• Maintain organized tools, supplies, work areas, service records, and job documentation.
• Follow all applicable safety procedures, facility rules, security requirements, and customer-specific instructions.
• Complete assigned work efficiently while maintaining quality, professionalism, and attention to detail.
• Represent Steira Air positively at every customer location.

Required Qualifications

• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to provide a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) for review.
• Driving record that meets company insurance requirements.
• Ability to successfully complete applicable background screening and meet federal, healthcare, correctional, and other customer facility access requirements.
• Ability and willingness to travel out of town at least four days per week, including overnight stays.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds, with reasonable accommodation, working within a team environment.
• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, stand, and walk as required by the job.
• Ability to work in tight spaces and varying facility environments when required by assigned duties.
• Good personal hygiene and a clean, professional appearance suitable for customer-facing work.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Professional verbal communication skills and the ability to interact respectfully with customers and leadership.
• Dependability, punctuality, a positive attitude, and a strong work ethic.
• Ability to follow instructions, work independently when appropriate, and contribute to a team.

Experience That Will Help You Succeed

Experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred:

• Warehouse operations, material handling, or inventory management.
• HVAC assistance or general building maintenance.
• Plumbing assistance.
• Automotive, diesel, or general mechanical work.
• Construction, equipment installation, or repair.
• Facilities maintenance, general labor, or hands-on service work.
• Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and basic mechanical equipment.

No specialized trade certification or professional license is required for this position. Practical experience, mechanical aptitude, dependability, and a willingness to learn are more important than formal credentials.

Compensation and Travel Benefits

• Starting pay: $18.00 per hour.
• Company-paid hotel accommodations for approved business travel.
• Per diem provided for eligible business travel in accordance with company policy.
• Full-time field service work across a variety of facilities and customer environments.

Specific travel arrangements and applicable reimbursement policies will be discussed during the hiring process.

Important Travel and Work Environment Information

This position requires frequent regional and out-of-town travel, generally at least four days per week. Overnight stays are part of the role.

Work assignments may take place in VA and other hospital environments, local and federal jails and correctional facilities, municipal buildings, and other government or commercial properties. Some assignments may involve mechanical rooms, tight workspaces, restricted-access areas, and physically demanding tasks.

Employees must follow all applicable customer security procedures, background screening requirements, safety rules, and facility-specific policies. Access to certain facilities is subject to customer approval.
