Lead Project Manager (Innovation Programs)

Overview The Intelligent Foundations & Experiences (IFX) Science & Academic Partnerships team seeks a high-energy, highly organized, self‑motivated Manager, Project Management to lead high‑impact projects and programs as part of our innovation portfolio. The primary focus of the role is to facilitate Capital One’s patent strategy in partnership with the OnePatents team, ensuring the capture of business‑critical IP. The Impact You Will Have As the S&AP Innovations Lead, you partner with Legal to drive intentional harvesting of high‑value Intellectual Property (IP). You excel at moving between deep‑dive sessions with tech teams and high‑level strategic alignment with senior executives. Job Responsibilities Program Leadership & Management: Support complex programs, facilitate strategic direction with Legal, Tech, Product, and Chief of Staff offices; run well‑managed program; establish presentation and meeting ceremonies; develop and track OKRs; collaborate with Tower level SLTs; drive meeting ceremonies and program structure to support IFX and OnePatents; produce prioritized areas of focus. IP Harvesting & Workshop Facilitation and support: Partner cross‑functionally with inventors and senior leaders to facilitate harvesting workshops; provide tactical framework and strategic partnership. IDF Submissions: Build strategies to motivate associates to complete patent steps for submissions. Op Excellence: Define and integrate workflows to streamline automatic capture of business‑critical IP. Communications: Drive internal and external communications about patents in partnership with Corporate Communications; draft communications; identify storytelling opportunities; build associate recognition; link patents to Capital One’s innovation story. Structured Problem Solving: Bring structure to ambiguous spaces, leveraging data and influencing skills to deliver project plans. Reporting: Establish clear measurement and reporting to leadership on AI initiatives; maintain meticulous documentation to mitigate risk. Innovation: Manage additional projects that aid Capital One in building a strong innovation culture, including operational capacity and programming. A Continuous Improver: Actively contribute to evolving program management practices. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent military experience. At least 6 years of project management experience. At least 2 years of JIRA experience. Preferred Qualifications Master’s or MBA degree. 7+ years of project management experience. 2+ years of people management experience. PMP, Lean, Agile, or Six Sigma certification. Benefits & Compensation Minimum and maximum annual salaries vary by location: McLean, VA: $151,900 – $173,400 New York, NY: $165,700 – $189,200 Richmond, VA: $138,100 – $157,700 Eligible for performance‑based incentive compensation and comprehensive health, financial, and other benefits.
