With more than 1,700 team members baking a difference every day, we operate state-of-the-art production facilities in Phoenix, AZ and Marion, IN, where quality, safety, and teamwork rise together.What You Will DoThe Safety Supervisor, reporting to the Director of Environmental Health & Safety and in conjunction with the Café Valley leadership team, is responsible for planning, implementing, and coordinating safety programs, requiring application of engineering principles and technology, to prevent or correct unsafe environmental working conditions.Consistent and dependable attendance; ability to work flexible hours and schedules as business needs demandAbility to stand, walk, climb, balance, kneel, reach, push, pull, and lift up to 20 lbs. while inspecting and evaluating production, warehouse, and maintenance work areasAbility to wear and correctly utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE)Ability to work in and around coolers, freezers, and areas with variable temperature, humidity, and noise conditions, and with or around food allergens of all typesCoordinates ongoing safety promotion activities such as safety committees, safety walkthroughs, safety training, and incentive programs; supports tracking and reporting of plant safety KPIsConducts regular compliance audits and safety inspections of the facility; initiates corrective actions, audits deficiency lists, and follows up on repairsOrders suspension of activities that pose threats to workers' health or safetyInvestigates accidents and incidents to identify root causes and prevent recurrence using root cause analysis (RCA) methodology; supports OSHA 300 log recordkeeping and compiles injury/illness reports for regulatory submissionInspects and evaluates workplace environments, equipment, and work practices — including those of on-site contractors — for compliance with safety standards and regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA)Supports the EHS Director with industrial hygiene tasks such as noise, atmosphere, and ventilation surveys, and collects samples of dust, gases, vapors, or other potentially toxic materials for analysisConducts safety training and education programs, including new hire safety orientation, and demonstrates the use of safety equipmentInvestigates safety and food-safety/facility-related complaints and inspects facilities for compliance with applicable regulationsAssists with the administration of workers' compensation claims; coordinates with insurance carriers, auditors, and treating physicians toward timely, successful resolutionCollaborates with engineers and plant leadership to institute control or remedial measures across safety, equipment, and process-related issuesSupports emergency response and evacuation procedures, including corresponding practice drillsMaintains safety files, records, and documentation to support compliance and audit readinessPerforms other duties as assignedSkills & QualificationsWho You AreRequired Qualifications:High School Diploma or GEDBilingual (English/Spanish)Three (3) years of experience in a Safety-related roleEffective communication skills (verbal, written, presentational, and interpersonal)Proven ability to organize, plan, and prioritize tasks within a high-volume, varied workloadAbility to work under low supervisionAbility to work flexible hours as neededExperience with the administration of work injury claimsWord, Excel, PowerPoint, and general HRIS data management skillsDesired Qualifications:Related bachelor's degreeOSHA 10-Hour General Industry CertificationThree (3) years of experience in production/manufacturing/bakery food plant in a Safety-related roleExperience as a key trainer for LOTO, OSHA, and other related topicsExperience working with insurance auditors and Workers' Compensation carriers for continuous improvement and successful resolution of work injury claimsWhere You Will Work1 opening in Phoenix, AZWhat You'll EnjoyCompetitive base salary and bonus incentivePaid time off programsComprehensive benefit offering including medical, dental, vision, life, disability and ancillary programsWorking with a great team of dedicated professionals focused on a common missionCafe Valley is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to diversity in the workplace.
