Overview The Department of Physics at California State University San Marcos seeks a part‑time lecturer for Fall 2026 to teach PHYS 321: Electromagnetism. The position is in‑person, held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:00 p.m. to 5:15 p.m., within the College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Course Description Introduction to the applications of Maxwell’s Equations and the propagation of EM waves in relation to matter. Subjects to be covered include dielectrics, conductors, plasmas, waveguides, and selected topics in electromagnetic wave radiation, propagation, absorption, transmission, and diffraction. Minimum Qualifications A master’s degree or equivalent professional experience in Physics and related fields. Advanced expertise in electricity and magnetism. Compliance with the California State University Out‑of‑State Employment Policy; employment is limited to California. Preferred Qualifications A doctorate or equivalent in Physics and related fields. Experience teaching similar courses in 4‑year universities. Demonstrated intercultural competence and a commitment to serving the campus community in teaching and service. Salary Lecturer A: $5,507 – $6,008 per full‑time month (anticipated). Lecturer B: $6,221 – $7,045 per full‑time month (anticipated). Application Requirements Completed faculty application.
