Manufacturing Engineer

Foundry Process Optimization EngineerSupport and optimize the core processes within our foundry, including metal forming, welding, casting, melting operations, and machining. This hands-on role will work closely with production, maintenance, and quality teams to improve process reliability, product quality, and operational efficiency. Direct supervision of Maintenance and Manufacturing Engineering techs. The ideal candidate has a strong background in manufacturing engineering and a passion for driving continuous improvement in a heavy industrial environment.Essential Functions:Provide layouts, equipment specifications and oversee the installation of all incoming tooling and machines.Maintain and improve plant layout with new workstations and new tooling.Generate concepts and details of gauging, fixtures, and tooling. Tolerance drawings per Motor Wheel practices. Inspect drawings for proper form, fit, function and dimensioning.Design and fabricate various tooling and material handling system to increase space utilization, reduce redundancy, improve workstation safety, increase productivity and support safety initiatives.When necessary, evaluate existing tooling and fixturing to determine optimum method of use and implement any necessary improvement.Support production daily by helping solve problems in a timely manner.Support all various functions in the Motor Wheel Business Unit (Safety, Quality, Production, Materials) with facility layouts, training, equipment recommendation, CERs, design and implementation of improvements generated by the plant and the management team.Work closely with outside vendors to maintain and maximize equipment life in order to provide highest quality part at lowest cost.Keep abreast of new and upcoming technologies and pursue the implementation of new and improved processes to increase the plant effectiveness and efficiency.Ensure maintenance team handles the following functions. Establish and maintain OEE, maintain work order system, maintain spare parts system, maintain facility, manage construction, maintain monthly PM completion metric, and coordinate facility inspections.Education:Bachelor's degree in a related technical area is required (ME preferred).Minimum Qualifications:5 or more years' professional experience in manufacturing engineering.2 years of experience supervising a technical team is required.Knowledge of electric, pneumatic and hydraulic systems is required.Hands-on experience in tooling, fixturing and methods is required.Ability to manage multiple projects and suppliers is required.Hands-on experience with CAD and CAM technology is required; ProE preferred.Experience in CNC is strong positive.Experience with Robotics and PLC programming is strong positive.Experience managing capital expenditures is a strong positive.Foundry experience a strong positive.Will demonstrate excellent problem solving, decision-making, communication and interpersonal skills.Should be customer focused.Physical Demands:Constant standing, walking, reaching and balancingOccasional bending, squatting, kneeling and climbingMinimal sitting and crawlingLift up to 50 lbs.Carry up to 50 lbs. approximately 5 feetPush/Pull 20-40 lbs. of force 40 feetEnvironmental Conditions:Work Environment: IndustrialLighting: Adequate.Ventilation: Adequate.Temperature: Non-Temperature Controlled.
