Controller

Responsibilities Oversee general accounting functions including sales and expense recognition, A/R, A/P, payroll, inter-company accounting, general ledger, cash management, reconciliation, financial statement reporting, and balance sheet management. Direct and manage the accounting department’s workload, ensuring invoices, expenses, receivables, and payroll are processed timely and in accordance with company policy. Help maintain and strengthen internal controls; support documentation and testing efforts and segregation of duties. Support internal and external audits and help implement resulting recommendations within your areas of responsibility. Provide technical accounting guidance (US GAAP) across company entities; may include involvement in due diligence for acquisitions/dispositions as needed. Ensure financial records under your responsibility comply with company policy and US GAAP; review monthly/quarterly reconciliations. Ensure financial reports comply with policy, US GAAP, and government reporting requirements. Support year-end close and tax reporting requirements (income, property, sales/use, payroll, and other local taxes). Evaluate and help improve accounting systems and procedures, recommending changes to increase efficiency. Help build and develop a strong accounting team capable of meeting department objectives. Collaborate regularly with Operations, Sales, DC, and Customer Service leaders. Take on special projects as assigned. Manage some combination of the following functions/teams: Controller or General Accountants, DC Accountants, Credit, A/P, A/R, Payroll, and Daily Balancing (scope can flex based on candidate strength). Qualifications BA in Accounting, Finance, or related field — or equivalent combination of education and progressive accounting experience. 3–5 years in a supervisory, lead, or management capacity within accounting/finance. Solid working knowledge of US GAAP, payroll/sales tax fundamentals, and general ledger relationships with subsidiary ledgers (cash, A/R, A/P, purchasing). Bilingual English/Spanish a plus, not required. CPA a plus, not required. Education Bachelors or better.
