Collaborative Pianist

Collaborative Pianist (Training 2 & 4 Choirs) – Monday and/or Tuesday Afternoons The award-winning Piedmont East Bay Children’s Choir (PEBCC) seeks a collaborative pianist on Monday and/or Tuesday afternoons (4 - 6:30 PM) for its Training 2 and Training 4 choirs during the 2026-27 season. The ideal candidate is an experienced collaborative pianist who is comfortable working with young people and supporting their musical growth. PEBCC also welcomes inquiries from qualified collaborative pianists who wish to be added to our substitute roster.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Availability from 4:00 – 6:30 PM on Mondays and/or Tuesdays. Serve as regular rehearsal pianist for one of PEBCC’s Training 2 or Training 4 classes (Class time from 4:15 – 6:15 PM on Mondays and Tuesdays during the choir’s two 17-week semesters). Provide assistance with warm-ups, sectionals, basic music theory, or general classroom supervision as needed. The singers are between 7 and 11 years old. Participate in additional activities (e.g., workshops, recitals, and all-choir concerts) for additional compensation. Complete timecards and other administrative paperwork in a timely fashion. Supervision of singers and supporting check ins and attendance from 4:00-4:15 and 6:15-6:30.

NEEDED QUALIFICATIONS:

Excellent skills in piano performance and score reading. Familiarity with choral rehearsals and ability to assist conductor (e.g., playing parts, accompanying warmups, etc). Experience working with children from diverse communities and supporting musical growth and interpersonal skills development Reliable transportation to and from rehearsal sites. Negative TB test, and PEBCC livescan; fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Familiarity with Kodaly, Orff, and/or other music education methodologies. 3 years of similar collaborations within a school or community setting. REPORTS TO: Artistic Director. HOURS: Part-time, with occasional weekend or evening recitals, workshops, or rehearsals. This is a non-exempt, hourly position. PAY RANGE: $62-72/hour, depending on experience. Supervision rate of $27-29/hour outside of rehearsal periods.
