The role focuses on outcomes, uses evidence-based practices, and collaborates with the healthcare team. Responsibilities Perform skilled evaluations through impairment testing and interpret findings related to functional deficits. Develop individualized treatment plans that align with clinical findings and established goals. Document evaluations, treatment plans, and goals. Reassess patient’s functional needs and adjust the care plan as indicated. Provide assessments and physical treatments such as sensory, strength/tone, range of motion, balance/coordination, functional mobility, bed mobility, gait & transfers, motor control/learning, joint/soft tissue mobilizations, and body systems. Offer modalities including iontophoresis, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, TENS, hot/cold packs, ice massage, traction, laser, pulsed lavage, negative pressure therapy, infrared, and compression. Demonstrate and instruct patients/caregivers on body mechanics. Identify contraindications for patients and follow precautions for WB, cardiac, contact, and spinal precautions. Demonstrate knowledge of inpatient lab values, diagnostic tests, medications, FIM scale/PAI scoring, and their impact on patients. Maintain skills to use and care for equipment such as pulse oximeter, blood pressure cuff, exercise equipment, sliding boards, crutches, canes, walkers, wheelchairs, patient beds, tilt table, floor lift, Lite Gait, and standing frame. Advise patients and families regarding treatments, modalities, and home programs. Actively participate in interdisciplinary team processes, including collaboration with physicians, vendors, and other disciplines, and discharge planning. Guide support staff to achieve patient and departmental goals. Serve as a preceptor/mentor for students and staff, as appropriate. Participate in performance improvement teams and quality improvement measures within the department. Act as a resource to promote physical therapy within Carondelet. Qualifications Minimum Requirements: Education: Graduation from an accredited school of Physical Therapy. Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree. Experience: 1 year as a licensed Physical Therapist in the field of Physical Therapy. Licensure/Certifications: Valid, current license - AZ State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners; CPR-BLS. Preferred Requirements: Education: Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Experience: Prior patient exposure in area of practice.
