The Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool Registered Nurse is a highly skilled pediatric nurse who provides expert, flexible nursing care across highly specialized pediatric environments: Pediatric ICU, Neonatal ICU, Pediatric Emergency Department, and other pediatric clinical areas throughout the hospital, such as Pediatric medical/surgical units, Adolescent medical/surgical unit, Pediatric HemOnc, and Pediatric procedural areas (Pre/Post). PICU: Care for critically ill infants, children and adolescents requiring intensive monitoring, complex therapies, and multidisciplinary management. NICU: Provide specialized care to premature, critically ill, and medically complex neonates while working within a highly specialized neonatal team. Pediatric Emergency Department: Provide care for infants, children and adolescents with a broad range of acuity, including Level I pediatric trauma, critical care emergencies, behavioral health emergencies, and complex medical conditions. This unique role serves as a hospital-wide pediatric nursing resource, supporting areas based on patient acuity, census, staffing needs, and organizational priorities. The nurse may be assigned to any pediatric inpatient or procedural area for which they have completed the required competencies. The Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool RN brings advanced pediatric assessment, critical-thinking, and clinical skills to a variety of patient populations and clinical environments while maintaining a strong commitment to patient safety, clinical excellence, teamwork, and family-centered care. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification are required. NRP certification, TCAR/PCAR/TNCC certification, and a Pediatric Critical Care certification such as CCRN or other specialty certification are preferred. 2 years of recent pediatric critical care, pediatric emergency or neonatal RN experience is required. Previous experience with central lines, arterial lines, vasoactive infusions, and advanced monitoring is preferred. Experience in caring for mechanically ventilated or critically ill patients as well as experience in participating in multidisciplinary resuscitation or rapid response teams is also preferred. Previous float pool or cross-trained experience across pediatric specialties is a plus. An Associate's degree in Nursing is required. A Bachelor's degree in Nursing is strongly preferred, as is prior patient care experience and comfort with electronic medical record systems (EMR) like EPIC. This position is Night Shift, 36 hours per week, 7pm-7:30am.
