Building Service Technician III.

Position Overview Building Service Technician III – Dartmouth College, Hanover, NH (Onsite only). Hours: 40 per week, Monday‑Friday 7:30 am – 4:00 pm, 12 scheduled months per year. Non‑exempt, Regular Full‑Time. Responsibilities Performs scheduled preventive maintenance and responds to work orders for academic and administrative buildings. Diagnoses and repairs electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire alarm, and other MEP systems. Maintains, adjusts, and troubleshoots campus building automation systems, including RODI, pool certification, and heat recovery systems. Performs installation, replacement, and repair of building components—doors, windows, fixtures, and structural elements. Mentors Building Service Technician I and II, providing guidance and training on systems and trade practices. Assists in supervision of new construction and remodeling projects, coordinating with contractors and occupants. Responds to energy‑management alarms, diagnosing and reducing consumption through system adjustments. Documents repairs, maintenance activities, and incident reports accurately. Participates in safety programs: respiratory protection, fall protection, confined‑space entry, hazard communication, and other required trainings. Works at heights and in physically demanding conditions, including ladders, scaffolds, and potentially hazardous environments. Required Qualifications High School diploma or equivalency. 8+ years of experience with MEP systems and controls. Valid driver’s license and compliance with Dartmouth College Driver Safety and Motor Vehicle policy. Proficiency in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and building automation. Ability to read building plans, use O&M manuals, and perform detailed diagnostics. Strong customer‑service and communication skills. Computer proficiency (word processing, email, spreadsheets, building‑system software). Willingness to work overtime and pursue additional vendor training. Completion of required safety and technical training: Driver Safety, Electrical Safety, Lock‑out/Tag‑out, Respirator, Fit & Physical Examination, Fall Protection, Confined‑Space, Laboratory Safety, Asbestos Awareness, and Bloodborne Pathogen. Preferred Qualifications Experience with campus‑specific automation systems such as Aircuity, Honeywell, and Johnson. Knowledge of heat‑recovery, RODI, and pool‑certification systems. Familiarity with Dartmouth College construction standards.
