Principal AI Engineer [Remote]

Accountabilities:

• Provide technical leadership across the design, architecture, and delivery of scalable software solutions that integrate advanced AI capabilities.
• Define architectural standards and best practices, ensuring alignment with modern engineering principles such as domain-driven design and microservices.
• Lead the development and integration of AI agents, APIs, and AI-powered workflows to enhance product functionality and engineering efficiency.
• Design and optimize prompt engineering strategies to improve code generation, testing, documentation, and other development processes.
• Translate complex business objectives into actionable technical plans, breaking down large initiatives into manageable tasks for engineering teams.
• Conduct thorough code and architecture reviews, ensuring performance, maintainability, security, and quality across systems.
• Mentor and coach distributed engineering teams, fostering a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and AI adoption.
• Collaborate with DevOps and platform teams to enhance CI/CD pipelines through AI-assisted testing, review, and deployment practices.
• Partner with stakeholders across product and engineering functions to align technology initiatives with strategic business goals.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including significant responsibility for architecture and technical leadership.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience working with AI/ML technologies in production environments.
• Strong expertise in backend or full-stack development, particularly using Python.
• Proven experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, GPT APIs, Claude Code, Devin AI, or similar platforms.
• Deep understanding of system design, especially retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) architectures and AI-enabled applications.
• Experience designing and implementing AI agent frameworks, including tools such as LangChain, CrewAI, AutoGPT, or comparable technologies.
• Strong knowledge of vector databases, embeddings, graph databases, and modern LLM infrastructure.
• Demonstrated success leading distributed engineering teams and mentoring developers across multiple locations.
• Experience with domain-driven design, microservices architecture, and scalable cloud-based systems.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Previous experience in SaaS, legal technology, compliance, HR technology, or risk management environments is considered a plus.
