Our organization is looking for a Residency Program Director and Inpatient Psychiatry Behavioral Health Physician in Oceanside!

We are in search of Inpatient Psychiatrists to join our team in Oceanside, New York. The Psychiatry Department is a dynamic group of committed professionals who collaborate to uncover the causes of mental health issues and substance use disorders, while also striving to enhance treatment options. For over three decades, our dedicated team has provided care for individuals facing acute crises as well as those with ongoing mental health challenges.

Qualifications

• MD or D.O. from an accredited medical institution

• Valid medical license to practice in New York State

• Board Eligible or Board Certified in Psychiatry

Compensation ranges from $255,000 to $290,000 (excluding bonuses, incentive compensation, or benefits).

The Program Director will play a key role in establishing and managing a new psychiatry residency program, which will include three residents annually. This program emphasizes exceptional clinical training and offers opportunities for clinically focused research. The program is sponsored by a leading Graduate Medical Education (GME) institution, with the majority of clinical activities taking place at our facility, which offers inpatient, outpatient, and partial stay services.

The Program Director will have both clinical and administrative duties, along with teaching responsibilities, and will receive support from both the local GME office and the GME office at the sponsoring institution. The expectation is for the Program Director to collaborate with the GME office to create innovative educational experiences that foster equity, safety, and a passion for learning. Currently, our Psychiatry Department provides medical education and clinical rotations for medical students. The new residency program will accommodate 12 residents, with three entering each year. This unique opportunity allows the inaugural Program Director to shape and implement their vision for a top-tier residency program, akin to the leading programs within the GME sponsorship.

Our GME programs are well-established, with our facility serving as a teaching hospital for over 50 years. We currently host residency and fellowship programs in Family Medicine, Gastroenterology, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Podiatry, and Surgery, with plans for additional programs in the future.

The ideal candidate for this role is a board-certified Psychiatrist with a minimum of five years of practice experience, demonstrating a strong commitment to medical education and scholarly activities. Previous experience as an assistant or full program director is highly desirable. This position includes a faculty appointment at the medical school.

Compensation ranges from $274,000 to $346,000 (excluding bonuses, incentive compensation, or benefits).

Actual salaries may vary based on several factors, including experience, specialties, historical productivity, collections, and community needs. Therefore, actual salaries may be closer to either end of the range, and in some cases, may fall outside the listed range.
