Our organization is looking for a Family Physician Residency Program Director in Long Island, NY!

We are currently in search of a Program Director for our ACGME-accredited Family Medicine Residency. This role offers the chance to lead the training program while also engaging in clinical practice across both inpatient and outpatient environments. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional clinical and leadership abilities, along with a solid history of academic achievement and familiarity with ACGME policies, procedures, and program standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with all ACGME standards.

• Oversee the development and implementation of the program curriculum.

• Promote the mission of the residency within the hospital and the surrounding community.

• Participate in the ISMSS GME Affiliation Committee and other relevant meetings to build strong institutional relationships.

• Develop and execute residency recruitment strategies.

• Act as faculty for the ACGME Family Medicine Residency Program.

• Maintain a clinical practice that includes care for adults and children, as well as prenatal services. While intrapartum care and deliveries are not mandatory, they are preferred.

• Foster a safe and supportive learning environment that encourages wellness.

Expectations

1. Maintain a clear and structured program plan.

2. Oversee the program's operations, including resident rotations, to ensure each resident is progressing in line with the educational objectives.

3. Conduct an annual review of the program to evaluate the quality of the educational experience and assess available resources for optimal integration.

4. Establish systems for career planning and counseling for residents, addressing issues such as psychological stress.

5. Select candidates for program admission in accordance with ISMMS and MSSN policies.

6. Evaluate resident performance through a structured in-training assessment program, including final evaluations as mandated by ACGME.

7. Maintain an appeals process for residents regarding promotions, dismissals, and grievances, which the Residency Program Committee will review.

8. Supervise and evaluate faculty and staff at primary teaching institutions and any additional sites involved in the residency program.

9. Collect and report accurate information as required by accrediting, licensing, certification, and funding bodies.

10. Ensure adherence to institutional and accrediting agency standards, including notifying relevant parties of significant program changes and obtaining necessary approvals from GMEC.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Provide care for patients of all ages.

• Serve as the inpatient teaching attending for the Family Medicine team.

• Deliver direct patient care in the office setting.

• Precept Family Medicine residents during office hours.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree.

• Board Certification in Family Medicine.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in Graduate Medical Education is required.

• Must maintain current credentials, including CV, License, DEA, CDS, Board Certification, and documentation of hospital admitting privileges.

• Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits must be kept up to date as required for Board Certification and/or hospital staff privileges.

• Exceptional interpersonal, leadership, mentoring, and teaching abilities.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

• Commitment to delivering high-quality, cost-effective, comprehensive medical care.

Compensation : The salary range is from $235,000 to $235,000 (excluding bonuses, incentive compensation, or benefits).

Actual salaries may vary based on factors such as experience, specialties, historical productivity, collections, and community needs. Therefore, actual salaries may be closer to either end of the range, and in some cases, may fall outside the listed range.
