Service Director in Saint Louis, MO

Automotive Personnel , a leading national recruitment agency, is seeking on behalf of one of its clients, an energetic and experienced Service Director to lead a multi-store service operation for an esteemed, Family-owned auto group in St. Louis, MO . This pivotal role involves overseeing all aspects of the dealership’s service departments, ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction, driving profitable growth, and maintaining high standards of automotive repair and maintenance. The Service Director will motivate and manage a team of skilled Service Managers, technicians, service advisors, and support staff to deliver top-tier automotive services across a diverse range of vehicle brands, including BMW, VW, Hyundai, Kia, and Nissan . I- Duties: What you will be doing

· Lead and manage the five service departments for the Auto Group, setting strategic goals to enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction

  • Oversee daily service operations, including vehicle diagnostics, repairs, oil changes, tire services, alignments, suspension work, brake repairs, transmission servicing, diesel engine repairs, shocks & struts, air brake systems, and auto body repairs
  • Ensure all technicians adhere to safety standards and maintain high-quality workmanship through regular training and performance evaluations
  • Develop and implement effective upselling strategies to maximize revenue while providing honest recommendations for vehicle maintenance and repairs
  • Manage service writing processes, estimate preparation, and ensure accurate auto estimating for repairs
  • Handle customer inquiries with professionalism and enthusiasm to foster long-term relationships and repeat business
  • Oversee cash handling procedures and ensure compliance with dealership policies
  • Coordinate with the parts department for the timely availability of parts needed for repairs and services
  • Monitor key performance indicators such as productivity levels, customer satisfaction scores, and profitability metrics to drive continuous improvement

II- Experience and Skills

1. Hard Skills

  • 5-10 years of Proven dealership experience with a strong background in multistore auto service management or automotive repair leadership
  • Extensive knowledge of automotive diagnostics, mechanical systems, transmissions, oil changes, tire services, alignments, suspension systems, brake repair, diesel engines, shocks & struts, air brake systems, and auto body repair with the
  • High volume service leadership experience with the following OEM brands ( Nissan, Kia, BMW, VW, and Hyundai)
  • Hands-on experience working as a service technician or mechanic is highly desirable to understand technical challenges firsthand
  • Demonstrated success in upselling services and automotive sales within a dealership environment
  • Strong financial acumen and KPI-driven mindset
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly and professionally
  • Experience with auto estimating software and service writing processes
  • Leadership skills to motivate teams while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency
  • Ability to handle cash transactions accurately and maintain detailed records
