The city forms part of the I-20 Cyber Corridor linking Shreveport and Bossier City, Ruston, Grambling, and Monroe to Dallas and Tyler, Texas, and Atlanta, Georgia. The Facility – Overton Brooks VA Medical Center Overton Brooks VAMC provides health care services at 5 locations in Louisiana, southern Arkansas, and east Texas. Facilities include the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center and 4 community-based outpatient clinics in Shreveport and Monroe, Louisiana; Longview, Texas; and Texarkana, Arkansas. Overton Brooks VA Medical Center has an active accredited research program and is one of the regional hematology and oncology centers. They conduct research to develop VA scientists and health care leaders, and create innovations that advance health care for Veterans and the nation. Overton Brooks VA Medical Center is a teaching hospital that provides a full range of services, with state-of-the-art technology as well as education and research. Their medical center has affiliations with Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport, State University Health Science Center, and many allied health schools and universities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Clinic and Surgical Care: Provide clinical Gastroenterology services. Be present on time for any scheduled clinics/surgeries as documented by physical presence in the clinic or operating room at the scheduled start time.
• Operative Services: Provide comprehensive clinical gastroenterology services including the full range of colonoscopy and Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) procedures such as:
• Colonoscopy
• Colonoscopy via colostomy
• Colonoscopy w/biopsy(ies)
• Colonoscopy w/ablation of tumor/polyp/lesion
• Colonoscopy w/removal of tumor/polyp/lesion by hot forcep
• Colonoscopy w/removal of tumor/polyp/lesion by snare technique
• Colonoscopy w/out biopsy
• Colonoscopy w/ submucosal
• Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD)
• EGD diagnostic
• EGD w/biopsy(ies)
• EGD w/removal of tumor/polyp/lesion by hot forceps
• EGD w/removal of tumor/polyp/lesion by snare technique
• ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography)
• Provide consultative services at the patient's bedside if the patient is not ambulatory and in the clinic setting if the patient is able to report to the outpatient clinic. Procedures shall be scheduled for completion within 30 days of the date of the consult.
• Follow all established medication policies and procedures. No sample medications shall be provided to patients.
• Provide discharge education and follow up instructions that are coordinated with the next care setting for all Gastroenterology clinical or surgical patients.

Requirements:

• Board Certified or Board Eligible by the American College of Physicians -Internal Medicine and The American College of Gastroenterology
• Current BLS and ACLS Certifications

POP: 9/1/20 – 8/31/22 with a 12-month option
